But of course, before one can pursue this entrepreneurial endeavor, it is imperative to have information on how to do the process of t shirt printing. This is the most basic step in establishing a t shirt printing business. Hence, this will serve as a step-by-step guide for anyone who wants to do their own t shirt screen printing.
Screen printing shirts is not really complicated. An individual can do it in his or her own house. With screen printing, a person can print numerous shirts with the same design expeditiously. Here is a very effective step-by-step guide.
The first step is to gather the required materials. An embroidery hoop, which can be bought at craft stores, is needed. The embroidery hoop you should get ought to fit the design are you going to use on it. You will also need a gauzy curtain. In order to make one, you can utilize a transparent curtain. So as to have the best results, it is recommended to use a gauzy curtain that has small holes. Another needed material is either screen printing ink or black fabric paint. Both of these materials can be bought in a craft store. It is also important to have Mod Podge. The following supplies should also be present when screen printing shirts: black paper, water color paints, a small sponge brush, stencil, watercolor paint and paintbrush, and of course the shirts. When all of these materials and supplies are already gathered, then one can begin t shirt screen printing.
The next step in t shirt screen printing is to choose the design you want to screen print. It is recommendable to choose a design that will be trouble-free for you to trace over. If you are going to download, use a graphic editor to resize the image so it could fit the embroidery loop. After resizing, you can print it out in a plain sheet of paper.
After choosing the design, the next step in t shirt screen printing is to stretch the gauzy curtain over the embroidery loop and secure by placing it on the other embroidery loop. Ensure the screen is pulled tightly. If needed, adjust until it is inflexible like the head of a drum. When this part is done, trim the protruding materials.
You can now trace the chosen design. This part of screen printing shirts is quite detailed. So if you are not good in tracing, ask someone to do it for you. In tracing the design, what you need to do first is to tape the piece of paper to the table. Then center the embroidery hoop over the design so you can commence tracing. You must avoid having plenty of extra lead on the screen. Hence, the tracing must be lightly done. This step in t shirt screen printing can take a while depending on the complexity of the design chosen. For some, tracing the design is difficult. Thus, another trick is to use self-adhesive paper. Print out the design on the self-adhesive paper and then cut it out. It is easy from thereon. Center the cut-out design on the screen and properly stick it down so that the edges are perfectly stuck.
After tracing or sticking the cut-out design, the next step in t shirt screen printing is to add the Mod Podge. What you need to do is cover all the space that you don’t need to print. You cover them with the Mod Podge. Let the Mod Podge to dry for several hours.
The last step in screen printing shirts is to lay out the shirt on a flat surface. Slip a cardboard between the front and back portions of the shirt. Then place the screen on the part of the shirt you want to print. Then with sponge brush, blot ink all over the image. When totally covered, pull up the screen. Leave the ink to dry overnight. Repeat this step when printing out the same design on the other shirts. These are the steps for successful t shirt screen printing.
