Choosing a Retractable USB Extension Cable
The current specification for connectivity in the computing industry is the Universal Serial Bus or USB. Most electronic gadgets these days are USB enabled, from laptops to portable media players, digital cameras and game consoles, and everything else in between. Having a retractable USB extension cable is good for allowing these devices to interconnect with ease.
The reason USB cables are the connection standard for computers and peripheral devices is that it is comparable to other fast data connection technologies like Firewire and SATA but it is cheaper to manufacture, easier to use and durable. Retractable USB extension cables can reach lengths of up to 15 feet. The good thing here is that you don’t have to deal with dangling wires since the cables retract neatly into their convenient casings.
When buying a retractable USB extension cable, you should keep in mind the USB version of your various devices. USB 3.0 is backward compatible to most older machines but you cannot use a USB 2.0 rated cable for USB 3.0 devices.
You should also ensure that your retractable USB has the right connectors for your different gadgets. Otherwise, you will also need to purchase connector adapters suitable for the job.
