Coolest New Printers and Printer Features for 2009
The inkjet printer market is already so much crowded that finding a product is becoming difficult, much less comparing. Still, certain machines catch the eye and attention more than others.
One such machine for 2009 is the Brother MFC-6490W, the world’s first multifunction A3 inkjet printer. This printer has got an automatic document feeder, touchscreen LCD displays, and wireless networking technology. Further, the machine could copy, scan, and fax in A3 size.
Brother is releasing 3 printers in this A3 segment, targeting architectural firms and marketing organizations, where large size documents and floor plans are frequently needed. These machines come with high-yield ink cartridges instead of the standard ones, with even watermark facilities in some of the machines for sensitive documents printing.
The Epson Stylus CX5500 is one of the cheapest machines in the market at $100. However, there are limitations to this entry level inkjet printer. Copying facility is limited at one copy at a time. Scanning facility is also lacking. The saving point of the machine is the choice of the cartridges as 4 stand-alone units for the 4 colors, with standard and low cost options.
Lexmark released 18 inkjet printers in October, with many of them expected to arrive in the market in 2009. Two of the machines are fitted with a 2” OLED panels or organic light emitting diodes in place of LCD panels. Three models are launched as SOHO units, with and without fax functions. Most of the models are somewhat higher priced.
The laser printers that are likely to make waves in 2009 are listed hereunder.
Brother HL-4040CN is a quality printer combined with maximum affordability in the market. The laser toners of Brother are also quite economical. If you need to print large volumes of single color and multicolor documents, this machine is the most ideal.
Lexmark X520 is an expensive machine but a multifunction laser printer having scanner, copier, and fax functions, apart from giving high quality text prints and images.
Samsung CLP-300N is a cost effective color laser printer, with networking capability. The machine is lightweight and compact, suitable for small and medium business houses.
Ricoh Aficio SP C210 is also a very expensive printer but the high speed of the machine allows you to print large quantities of documents daily. This color laser is suitable for large organizations.
Konica Minolta Magicolor 5440 DL is fast at 27 pages per second and also gives high quality output. With one set of color toners, you could print up to 12,000 pages, according to the company.
Xerox Phaser 6110B could print up to 24,000 pages in a month, even though the printing speed is lesser. The laser printer has also got networking features.
HP Color LaserJet 1200 possesses copy, scan, and networking features apart from the assurance of high quality printing.
Dell 5110cn color laser printer gives you an output of 40 pages per minute, irrespective of the number of images in the document. The paper tray could hold up to 1,500 sheets.
Canon MF6550 is one of the cheapest machines in the market at under $40. The printer comes with copier, scanner, and fax features.
Okidata C5510N is one of the most compact printers, with copier, scanner, networking, and fax facilities. This is ideal for small offices and individual homes.
