Dell Wasabi: Who Said You Can’t Bring Your Printer with You?
When you say printer, what comes into your mind? Is it the deskjet or inkjet printer paper that you have at home together with your personal computer? Or is it the big ones you can find in photo centers that can chew out pictures within seconds? No matter what comes into mind, chances are you never thought of seeing a very small printer.
Surprise, surprise! There actually is a small and portable printer. It is considered a palmtop printer. It can fit into your hand comfortably the way a credit card or a small mobile phone would. It’s a very neat new piece of technology that everyone can now access. Just what is this small printer being talked about? It is the PZ310 Wasabi, manufactured by Dell Corporation. This is the new type of Dell printer, one that you can carry around–it operates on battery power–and can be used anytime you want.
Aside from being small, the PZ310 Wasabi has several neat features that will satisfy the techno geek in all of us. These features include the following:
One-touch Operation. Everything with the PZ310 Wasabi can be done by one-touch. If you want to print pictures from your camera or from your mobile phone, all it takes is just one press of a button, and you’re all set. Do you want to reprint the picture? All it takes is just one touch as well.
Connectivity Features. The PZ310 is endowed with all the necessary connectivity features fit for this age. For example, for those who want to use the printer for producing hard copies of the pictures in their mobile phones, they can use the Bluetooth connector that is built into the printer. They can transfer the photos to the printer, and produce them in steps as easy as one, two, and three.
Of course, the Wasabi can also be used to print pictures directly from your camera. It has a PictBridge USB connection to serve as an interface between the printer and the camera’s memory.
Inkless Printing. There is no ink involved as well when printing with the Wasasbi. Instead, Dell has designed the entire system to use amorphochromic (TM) crystals. These crystals are already found in the ZINK Paper (TM) that the printer exclusively uses. These crystals provide for the vividness of the printed picture as if they’ve been printed using ink.
Status Alerts. Instead of having you make guesses as to the status of your Wasabi’s battery, the printer is equipped with icons that will alert you if you are running low on battery power. It does so using “happy” and “sad” icons displayed through light-emitting diodes.
Support from DELL. DELL strongly supports all buyers of its Wasabi handheld printer. Replenishment of your paper supply is easy. You simply contact DELL, order ZINK Paper (TM), and your order will be shipped right away to your home. The Wasabi also comes with a free 1-year warranty with an option to purchase extended warranties for your peace of mind. DELL also maintains a forum that is dedicated for the exclusive use of its Wasabi owners.
