If you are going to buy a new printer, which one should you buy – a wireless printer or a cable printer? Anyone can tell you that wireless printing is the way to go these days, with all the conveniences that wireless networking can offer. So, if you are looking into purchasing a new printer, the obvious choice would be a wireless printer.

Not convinced? Well, then; here is a list of reasons why you should choose a wireless printer over a cable printer. This will also introduce you to the glories of wireless networking.

1. Wireless printers are more convenient. As mentioned above, the beauty of wireless printing lies in its convenience. If your printer is wireless, you do not have to go through the hassle of saving your files to a floppy or a CD or a USB storage disk and run to where the printer is located just to do your printouts. It would also be unnecessary for you to plug the printer to your computer in order to do your printing jobs in case you are out of disks for storage.

All you need to do is to click “Print” on your software and your wireless printer will do the job wherever in the house it is located. That is not impossible to do with a cable printer, but let us talk about that in a bit.

2. Wireless printers allow you to print pictures from handheld devices. We all love our handheld gadgets – our PDAs, our cellphones, our digital cameras. With these handheld devices, we can take pictures of ourselves whenever and wherever. Most of these gizmos bypass the computer all together and communicate directly with a wireless printer. Why should you miss out on that level of convenience with a cable printer?

3. Wireless printers eliminate the need to create a local area network using cables. Do you really want to fill your house with wires just so you can use a cable printer without budging from wherever you are inside the house? It is a waste of resources, not to mention that it can make your interior décor look messy. Maintaining the integrity of those cables can also be a pain.

Cable printers are swiftly becoming a thing of the past, with most printers in the market today capable of communicating with a wireless network. The sheer convenience of owning a wireless printer should already be reason enough for you to choose it over a cable printer.

Nonetheless, if you already have a cable printer or if you are dead-set on owning a cable printer, there is a way of making that work just like a wireless printer would. All you need to do is to buy a router and connect your cable printer to that router.

Creating wireless networks for easy connectivity is the way to go these days. If you are in the market for a printer, forget about cable printers if you can. Go for the convenience of wireless printers.
